Clemson Faces Another Daunting Challenge with Louisville Coming to Town

The Clemson basketball team is struggling. And they are struggling in all facets of the game.

This is a team that was playing lights out through their first ten games of the season. Then the program paused all team activities for eight days and since resuming play, it’s team that’s had its doors blown off three consecutive times.

Since their return, something seems off with this team. What that is exactly is hard to pinpoint.

Wednesday night was supposed to be Clemson’s get well game with Boston College coming to town. The Eagles are currently 3-10 and not playing very well.

However, a schedule change now has Louisville paying a visit to Littlejohn instead. One of the ACC’s more talented teams and another Top-25 team. Over their last five games they have wins over Duke, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech and losses to Florida State and Miami.

Let’s be honest though. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, if the Tigers don’t get back to playing well on the defensive end, this will be another lopsided affair.

Clemson has given up 80 points or more in each of their past three games and that is not the recipe for success for Brad Brownell’s team. The Tigers have to get back to defending the perimeter. Something they have done well in the three game losing streak.

3-Point Defense Past Three Games

Virginia: 15-27 (55.6%)

Georgia Tech: 9-18 (50%)

Florida State: 12-28 (42.9%)

It will be interesting to see which Clemson team shows up on Wednesday night. If the Tigers are getting after the Cardinals on the defensive end, Clemson can compete with Louisville. If not, it is likely going to be another long night.
