CBS Sports CFP Projections Have Tigers Renewing An Old Rivalry

How can you tell that football is getting close? Bowl Projections begin and CBSSports.com’s Jerry Palm has released his. As we get closer (just eight very long days away) to the start of the season, the projections have begun, as will the questions about who’s got a chance to go where and play who.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all of us in many ways. As far as college sports, it started when their largest stage in march (March Madness) was canceled. Tiger fans and everyone else, for that matter, were hoping things would settle down, be under control by fall, and college football would begin normally but so much for that.

Instead, four FBS conferences and a handful of other schools (46 teams in total) have either “postponed football” or canceled it entirely. This included two of the Power-5 leagues as well (Big10 and Pac12). With that said though, Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has given his bowl projections and also just how many bowls still remain.

Palm’s projections for bowl games looks like this:

College Football Playoff

DATE GAME / LOC. MATCHUP PREDICTION
Jan. 11 National Championship
Miami
Title game Semifinal winners
Jan. 1 Rose Bowl
Pasadena, Calif.
Semifinal (2) Alabama vs. (3) Oklahoma
Jan. 1 Sugar Bowl
New Orleans
Semifinal (1) Clemson vs. (4) Georgia

New Year’s Six bowl games

DATE BOWL / LOCATIONMATCHUP PREDICTION
Jan. 2 Orange
Miami
ACC vs. SEC/Big Ten North Carolina vs. Florida
Jan. 2 Fiesta
Glendale, Ariz.
At-large vs. At-large Texas A&M vs. Cincinnati
Jan. 1 Peach
Atlanta
SEC vs. ACC Auburn vs. Memphis
Dec. 30 Cotton
Arlington, Tex.
At-large vs. At-large Texas vs.
Notre Dame

As everyone knows, a lot can change between today and the end of the season, but many Clemson fans will love this projection. Especially since Palm has the Tigers renewing an old rivalry with Georgia and with a national championship appearance on the line. He also has Clemson as the number one seed going into the College Football Playoff, followed by Alabama (2), Oklahoma (3) and Georgia (4).
