Cade Klubnik: Another Clemson Man That Needs No Introduction

I am almost sure in his early high school career at Westlake High School in Austin, home of the University Texas, Cade Klubnik probably had dreams of being a Longhorn.

After all, he played his high school career in the shadows of UT. During his stellar career, he passed for 7,426 yards with 86 touchdowns and seven interceptions and won three state championships, two which while he was the starting quarterback.

In the summer of 2021 before his senior year, he was named the MVP of the Elite 11 and he was the number one quarterback in the class of 2022. As a senior he was named the All-American Bowl Player of the Year, MaxPreps Player of the Year and was the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Texas. Very impressive.

Since his much anticipated arrival on campus in January, he has shown, by his words and his demeanor, he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. At the end of this past week’s scrimmage in Death Valley, Klubnik and his fellow teammates welcomed the ClemsonLIFE students. The well publicized Cade’s Challenge that took place is one of the examples of why he’s the perfect example of a Clemson Man.

On the video, you see a smiling Klubnik challenge some of the ClemsonLIFE students to be the first that could throw the football into one of the four pockets in the passing target. The tall, gangly, purpled jersey QB took the ball and in one pass, threw a perfect pass into a pocket.

Klubnik celebrated the achievement with this young man, and the reward for completing the challenge? The quarterbacks wrist bands and towel. It was a special moment seeing the payoff. At that moment, this young man couldn’t have been any happier if he had won the lottery and so was Klubnik.

There are few, if any, photos that I’ve seen where he is not smiling. During the weekend baseball series with NC State, someone snapped a random photo and there, in Doug Kingsmore Stadium, sporting that smile was Klubnik.

I don’t know this young man, I’ve never met him and probably never will but I know him. I’ve lived my life amongst such special people and yes, Klubnik is one of them.

He is a Clemson Man therefore he needs no introduction. We know most wearing the Paw are like family and it’s an honor to have another Clemson man in the fold.

While to some, it’s impossible to fathom there are some things more valuable than on the field statistics but Cade Klubnik knows there is and appears to live and love it. Maybe he wasn’t born a Clemson Tiger but he was meant to be one and all concerned are delighted.
