Enai White, a 6’5, 230 pound defensive end/edge rushing prospect from Philadelphia, confirmed that he’ll be taking an unofficial visit to Clemson sometime this summer.
The interest between White and Clemson is said to be mutual, but Dabo Swinney has a policy of not hosting officials over the summer, so the unofficial at least gets White on campus.
The June officials go to Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Ohio State and give this recruitment a decidedly SEC feel, but one spot remains open and where and when that final spot happens will be telling from the Tigers perspective.
The date for White’s trip to Clemson isn’t yet known, but it won’t be for the Elite Retreat as that weekend is the date White has his Georgia official set as noted in the tweet above.
Other unofficial visits for White include Oregon, Texas A&M and home state Penn State.
There’s a wide range in where the services see White overall, with some having him as high as number 6 nationally, others as low as 90th. There’s less doubt where he places in the WDE ratings and in Pennsylvania, where he’s considered 1st or 2nd in the former and consensus number 1 in the latter. At least one evaluator believes White could end up as the best edge rusher in the 2022 cycle.
If you’re the type that likes to watch film here’s some highlights of White’s play.
Other Clemson defensive end targets have either been confirmed or are considering attending the Elite Retreat, so it remains to be seen how strong the attraction between White and the Tigers is and whether that fifth official will be to Clemson or somewhere else.
