Clemson Throttles Wake Forest: Rapid Reactions

The Tigers jumped up 14-0 quick in this one. The Deacs were able to keep it within two scores for a little while, but by the time the first half was 31-3 Clemson and the game was over. This team is rolling. Wake is not an elite team by any stretch but they aren’t a scrub team either. They are well coached and they are pesky, and the Tigers smoked them 52-3.

  • Clemson is now 11-0 and has won 26 straight and still own the nations longest home winning streak. These seniors are now 52-3 and have never played a game ranke doutside the top ten
  • Those long developing zone read plays just did not work against the Clemson defense. More often than not they resulted in a TFL or minimal gain. It may work against lesser teams, but not a BV coached D.
  • I have said it for three weeks now, but it is worth noting again. Trevor Lawrence is dialed in. He played until about the midway point of the 3rd quarter in this one and tied a career high with 4 TD passes
  • 3 of those TD passes went to Tee Higgins. He is the alpha male of this receiving group and has the best hands on the team.
  • Amari Rodgers left with an injured collarbone and it sounds like it may be broken. It has been a tough year for Amari if that is true
  • Justyn Ross left injured too but it doesn’t appear to be serious. That is just a guess though
  • ETN with 16 carries for 121 yards. He looks fresh and that is a direct result of not making him tote the ball 15-20 times a game.
  • That defense though. Another game holding a team under 300 yards. Wake barely cracked 100. I don’t know whether this defense is better than last years, but let’s just say it’s different. They certainly don’t match up along the front but the back end sure is better.
  • Jamie Newman was just 6-14 for 41 yards and was picked off twice
  • Wake punter averaged 58 yards per punt on nine punts… can we get one of those?
  • Staff stayed aggressive with the play calling even after Brice came in. Powell dropped a perfectly thrown deep ball. For those of you who think Brice is content as a backup, you will be disappointed when he transfers to start somewhere else. I doubt he is content being QB3 after DJ arrives.
  • Wake Forest got “Batson’d!”
  • No curtain call for the guys playing their final home game? Must be saving it for Willy B.
  • Speaking of Williams Brice…. we get two weeks of rivalry week this season. Both teams have bye weeks next weekend. Can the Tigers put the nail in Muschamp’s coffin?
