Representing Team USA and with a gold medal on the line, the Clemson Basketball team defeated Ukraine 85-63 Thursday afternoon to win the World University Games. It’s the USA’s first gold since 2015 and just its second since 2005 in the biennial event.
John Newman III led the way, scoring 20 points while going 7-10 from the field. He also had 7 rebounds.
Amir Simms kept up his stellar play in these games, scoring 12 points while grabbing 6 boards.
Trey Jemmison had a good day as well, with 11 points, going 4-6 from the field.
Hunter Tyson, Nick Honor, and Al-Amir-Dawes each pitched in 8 points, and Khavon Moore and Tevin Mack each scored 6 points.
