Clemson Basketball- Team USA Gets By Israel 75-73

Team USA defeated Israel in the semifinals of the World University Games 75-73.

Amir Simms has been impressive since the beginning of Pool Play, and today was no different. The rising junior turned in his best performance yet, going off for 27 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. The only downside for Simms today was shooting just 1/8 from 3.

Clemson shot just 35% from the field while Israel shot 43% but the Tigers won the battle on the boards 53-36.

Al-Amir Dawes had 16 points and was 4-5 from beyond the arc. John Newman III had 10 points and 6 rebounds.

After shooting well from 3 pt distance yesterday vs Germany, the Tigers didn’t fare as well today, going just 8-32, for a 25% clip.

Team USA will now move onto the Gold Medal game tomorrow, where they will face Ukraine. The two teams faced off to open pool play, with Team USA getting the one point win 58-57. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 pm EST.
