Clemson Kicker Enters Transfer Portal

Clemson kicker Liam Boyd has entered the transfer portal.

The redshirt freshman announced the move on Twitter.

“I am forever grateful to Coach Swinney and Coach Spiers for giving me the opportunity to play for Clemson,” Boyd tweeted. “I want to thank the Clemson football coaches, staff and my teammates for supporting me on my journey. After a lot of thought, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”

Boyd, who was a walk on, will now have the opportunity to pick up a scholarship elsewhere. The Tigers are currently two over the 85 limit, meaning it was unlikely Boyd would have been placed on scholarship in 2023.

Boyd had been in a competitive battle for the starting placekicker job with Robert Gunn III.
