Another Potential AFC Suitor for Texans QB Deshaun Watson?

Deshaun Watson is still patiently waiting. Patiently waiting to get out of Houston.

The former Clemson quarterback and 2017 first round pick, was almost dealt to Miami before this season’s trade deadline. However, the deal was contingent on all 22 civil lawsuits that are pending against Watson being settled, and while 18 were ready to settle, four were not, according to a report from Pro Football Focus.

Before the start of the 2022 season, Watson’s legal issues could be a thing of the past, and NFL Insider Albert Breer thinks whenever it is that happens, the Texans will finally deal the disgruntled quarterback.

“I think if and when Watson becomes available, and I think we all assume the Texans will get him out on the market in the same sort of way the Lions got Stafford on the market pretty quickly last year, and obviously, this is all pending the legal stuff, but I expect the Browns to be a player,” Breer recently said on a sports talk show in Cleveland.

How serious the Browns are about dealing for Watson is likely a long way from being determined, but Breer absolutely believes Cleveland will at least try to make a run at the former Clemson quarterback.

“I think the Browns are going to throw their hat in. Now, are they going to be willing to go the distance? I don’t know that, but I absolutely believe the Browns are going to be a player for Deshaun Watson if he becomes available. Again, a lot of this is going to come down to what’s happening legally, getting signoff from ownership, of course, that’s an important piece of it. And then, how far you’re willing to go if you do get that signoff. But again, let’s call it an educated guess, I do think they’d throw their hat in the ring.”
