The NFL season is closing in and many still question whether Deshaun Watson will begin it watching from the Houston sidelines or on another team altogether.
The rumors that Watson is still wanted by the Miami Dolphins gained more traction over the weekend, but to this point, that is all they are, rumors.
Even though the Dolphins haven’t made any statements on the situation, Miami head coach Brian Flores did detail exactly what type of players they look for when adding to their roster.
“We have a high standard for the people we have in the organization,” Flores stated via USA Today “We want people with high character throughout the building.”
With Watson currently facing 22 civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct. along with being investigated by the Houston PD and the FBI, some have wondered if that was a shot at the former Clemson quarterback. However, Miami has been linked to Watson for months, and usually where there’s smoke there is fire.
Flores would then go into exactly what factors team officials look at when they are deciding if a player fits what the team wants to put on the field.
“There are a lot of things we weigh when we’re making decisions,” Flores said. “Fit on the team, overall talent, salary cap. When we’re talking about a player or players, we’re always trying to do what is best for the Miami Dolphins. There are a lot of variables. We want a group that is tough, smart, competitive, loves to play and is team first. Those are the types of guys we’re looking for.”
