(WATCH) Clemson’s Newest Commit Sherrod Covil in Action

Clemson picked up a commitment from 4-star safety Sherrod Covil on Thursday. It was the Tigers first verbal pledge from a blue-chip prospect since early March, when Cade Klubnik committed.

However, with the dead period now officially in the rear view mirror, expects things to pick back up out on the recruiting trail.

For those of you who have yet to see Covil in action, check some of his highlights. This video starts out with camp workouts but quickly goes into game highlights, which are pretty impressive.

Covil is a high energy player who never shies away from contact. He excels in defending the run and is a superb tackler. He will need to add a few pounds and finetune his coverage skills after arriving in Clemson, but this is a guy who should contribute at a high level and sooner rather than later.
