Sherrod Covil committed to Clemson on Thursday.
The 4-star safety from Chesapeake, Virginia chose the Tigers over Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State. In total the blue chip prospect had more than 40 offers.
Clemson offered back in March and the Tigers were seen as legitimate contenders throughout. Alabama, Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, Penn State, Auburn, Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland also made Covil’s Top-11 back in March.
The 6-foot. 190-pound, 4-star player is ranked No. 198 overall in the 247 Composite, No. 11 among all safeties and No. 10 in the state of Virginia.
With the addition of Covil, the Tigers now have six players currently committed in the 2022 recruiting class and it’s possible they could add an seventh tomorrow, with priority cornerback target Toriano Pride is set to announce on Friday.
