Dabo Swinney: ‘I Only Know One Deshaun Watson’

Deshaun Watson has had his share of up and down moments over the past few weeks as the Texans quarterback is facing 22 civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct

In an appearance on ESPN Radio on Wednesday, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked about the situation and said the Watson he knows is not the one being portrayed in the media.

“All I can say is, I only know one Deshaun Watson and that’s the one I’ve had experience with for many years now,” Swinney said. “And that’s all I can go by is the Deshaun I know and the experience I’ve had.”

Swinney went on to say that his former quarterback has never lied to him.

“Obviously there’s a legal process that has to take its course and we’ll see, but I believe in Deshaun Watson and know what he’s told me and he’s never lied to me before,” Swinney said. “I have to stand on that.”

At the same time, the Clemson head coach said it is certainly disappointing to see someone he knows so well going through what Watson is currently.

“Well just like everybody, certainly just disappointed to see his name in the paper for things like that,” Swinney said. “It hurts when it’s someone you know. We all read things about people all the time, but when it’s someone you have a personal relationship with, love and respect, it hurts. So, it’s very disappointing to see his name in the paper and all that stuff.”
