Former Clemson running back Travis Etienne surprised many with his decision to play his senior season in college rather than enter the NFL Draft.
After a season that saw his numbers fall across the board, through no fault of his own really, some might question whether that is a decision he regrets making.
However, at last months House of Athlete Combine, Etienne said he absolutely has no regrets about finishing up his education and getting his degree.
“I definitely don’t regret the decision,” Eitenne said. “I made the right decision, just for me, my family, just everybody around me. Just kind of just leaving the legacy for my little brother to follow, just to show him that you can go to school and play football, do everything, but still get a degree. Because at the end of the day that degree is what you’re going to have when it’s all said and done.”
Etienne is being pegged by analysts to go as high as late in the first round. When asked who he thought was the best running back available in this draft, Etienne did not hesitate with a response.
“Travis Etienne Jr.,” the ACC’s all-time leading rusher responded with a confident smile.
Many have compared Etienne to the versatile running back Alvin Kamara, something Etienne takes great pride in.
“It’s definitely a high compliment,” Etienne said. “Just watching AK play throughout these past couple of years, just the way that he has transitioned the position and just the things that he do on on the field. I mean, it is very amazing anytime I hear that. I’m very grateful.”
The former Clemson star said that whichever team does eventually draft him will get an unselfish back, capable of excelling in every facet of the game.
“I’m just unique in a way to where I could do more with less,” Etienne explained. “Not demanding the ball each and every play and still being very productive throughout of the game. so I thought I’m just gonna go to my go to. I feel like whatever team I go to I’m going to bring that mindset and ability to just transcend the whole team, and take it to that next level.”
