Watch out for those Clemson wide receivers in 2021.
After a season in which the Tigers were absolutely ravaged by injuries at the receiver position, Clemson is primed to once again resemble the school widely known as #WRU.
“We’re back in business there at wideout,” head coach Dabo Swinney said. “It’s unbelievable the depth we have out here now. I’m super excited about it. Obviously we had a lot of guys out last year. We’ve got a great group.”
Not only do the Tigers get back Justyn Ross, Joseph Ngata, and Frank Ladson Jr., the coaching staff also signed three elite-level wideouts as part of their 2021 recruiting class. Two of those, Beaux Collins and Dacari Collins are already on campus and the third, Troy Stellato will arrive in the summer.
“Those are three elite players we didn’t have access to,” Swinney said. “We’ve got a bunch of guys. We’ve got Troy coming in this summer. These two freshmen, Dacari and Beaux, they’ve made us better already.”
Nagata in particular has struggled to stay healthy during his first two seasons at Clemson and Swinney said that he came into the spring more determined than ever.
“It’s good to see him out here,” Swinney said. “Joseph looks great. He’s incredibly focused and it’s good to see him get back to full health.”
Overall, it is a group Swinney is excited about. Led by the senior Ross, there is a lot of talent and depth in that receiver room and you can hear it in Swinney’s voice that he is very much looking forward to getting this group, fully healthy, back on the field in 2021.
“We’ve got really, really good depth with this group and some versatility within that group,” Swinney said.
