Over the years many schools have tried to lay claim to the moniker “Defensive Back University.”
LSU and Alabama are two schools from the SEC that would have legitimate claims. Florida State and Texas are two more from outside the SEC.
A school like South Carolina that has sent very few defensive backs to the NFL in recent years, not so much.
However, that didn’t stop new defensive backs coach Torrian Gray from making the claim that the Gamecocks are now in fact the ‘New #DBU.’
Some of the responses that followed were entertaining to say the least.
