(WATCH) Aamir Simms Leading Way For Dangerous Clemson Basketball Team

The Clemson Basketball team has had to pause all team activities temporarily due a positive test inside the program and contact tracing. Their weekend trip to Chapel Hill was postponed as was their Tuesday night road game at Syracuse.

So now is a great time to reflect back on exactly how great of a start this team is off too. Clemson is in the midst of a four game winning streak and currently sits at 9-1 overall and 3-1 in ACC play. And this coming in a season in which there was just two games against FCS competition.

That means the Tigers have been beating Power-5 teams, and they have knocked off some pretty good ones at that. They beat Mississippi State and Purdue down in Melbourne, Florida to open the season, winning the 2020 Space Coast Challenge, and they also beat Alabama in Atlanta. They have home wins over Maryland, Florida State, and NC State and a road win over Miami. Their only loss came to a ranked Virginia Tech team on the road.

Leading the way is senior Aamir Simms, averaging 12.6 PPG and 5.8 RPG, both team highs. Nick Honor has also been a great addition to the roster after having to sit out last season due to transfer rules. He’s second on the team with 10.7 PPG and is shooting 46% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc.

The start the team has gotten off to has people taking notice. The Tigers are now ranked No. 12 in the country. It’s the second time the team has cracked the Top-25 this season and the ACCDN has put together a little piece on the play of Simms.

“At 9-1, the Clemson Tigers are looking like one of the most dangerous teams in the ACC, and forward Aamir Simms is a major reason why.  The senior big man leads the Tigers in points per game, rebounds per game, free throw percentage, and field goal percentage. Already this season in a game against Miami, Simms tied his career highs in points, made field goals, and blocks, while also hitting the go-ahead basket in the final seconds of the game.  Aamir Simms makes Clemson a team to fear in the ACC. “
