Dabo Swinney Provides Update on Sugar Bowl Plan Without Tony Elliott

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update after the team arrived in New Orleans this afternoon as to how the team will handle not having offensive coordinator Tony Elliott available for the Sugar Bowl due to Covid protocols.

Sswinney spoke with ESPN and told them that Brandon Streeter will move into the booth and CJ Spiller will handle the running backs.

However, in usual Swinney fashion, he was offering up no excuses.

“It’s 2020. Listen, we’ve got no excuses, it’s just football,” Swinney told ESPN. “Players play. It’s not about plays. It’s about players. We’ve got a good group of players who are well-prepared. Tony has done an amazing job helping put this plan together. Now it’s something that we have to go execute.”

Swinney also said that Elliott was doing well and is asymptomatic.

According to NCAA rules, Elliott can not help with the coaching during the game.
