The Clemson and Florida State matchup scheduled for noon today was postponed and it has not sit well with some players like Trevor Lawrence, KJ Henry, and Darien Rencher and they let it be known via social media.
“The postponement follows this morning’s game conference call at which time both teams’ medical personnel were unable to mutually agree on moving forward with the game. Both teams continue to adhere to the minimum outlined protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report, which is available on theACC.com.”
It has now been deleted but Trevor Lawrence’s tweet that he “wished” it was about the pandemic suggested that the multiple reports out there that FSU did not wish to play and used COVID-19 as an excuse is true and the real reason for the postponement. The Tiger quarterback also tweeted the following about the postponement:
According to reports, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney offered several options to get the game in such as allowing for retesting of their players along with Clemson players and playing the game later Saturday night, Sunday, or even as late as Monday. FSU refused those options.
There have been a number of postponements but this is Clemson’s first postponed game of the season. They even played their last two games without Lawrence who tested positive and and had to go through the protocols himself.
Don’t bank on this one being made up at all. Clemson is already out close to $300K for this trip and Athletic Director Dan Radakovich suggested earlier on Saturday that the Tigers would not pay for another trip to Tallahassee.
