With football season now upon us….. finally, it seems as if the NCAA is getting its ducks in a row when it comes to the 2020-21 college basketball season as well.
Last week the organization filed papers to trademark the term “Battle in the Bubble,” meaning if things haven’t improved by March, the NCAA seems to be preparing to play the NCAA tournament in some sort of bubble environment if need be.
NCAA president Mark Emmert told Andy Katz recently that the concept would be costly, but still perfectly viable for March Madness.
“It’s obviously expensive to do that, but we’re not going to hold a championship in a way that puts student-athletes at risk,” Emmert said.
