The Tennessee Titans announced in a press conference Tuesday that they had placed former Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley on the reserve/did not report list. Hopefully, there’s a good reason for the absence.
Beasley was not present at the team’s facility as they began camp and COVID-19 testing and no reason was given by team officials as to why during the press conference on Tuesday. Not a good look or how you would want the public to see your start in Tennessee if you are Vic Beasley.
Beasley, who turned 28 earlier this month, signed a one-year, $9.5 million contract with Tennessee on March 22, a deal that is fully guaranteed. Outside of one season in 2016, many feel his five seasons with the Falcons were fairly underwhelming, This was supposed to be a fresh start for Beasley.
After Atlanta took him eighth overall in the 2015 draft, he has registered 37.5 sacks in 78 career NFL games. He led the league with 15.5 sacks in 2016 and had five or more in each of the last three years.
This absence could cost Beasley. According to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, an unexcused late reporting to preseason camp by a player under contract as an unrestricted free agent is a mandatory fine of $50K per day.
