Defensive End To Choose Between SC And Clemson Today

Zaire Patterson, a defensive end out of Winston Salem will be announcing his commitment on Tuesday. He has narrowed his choices down to two final schools, Clemson and South Carolina.

Patterson is a four star defensive end, and the recruiting services vary wildly on where they have him ranked.

  • 247 Sports has him as a top 100 player overall, and as the 8th best WDE prospect in the country.
  • ESPN ranks him as a four star as well, but only as the 266th best player overall and the 29th best at his position.
  • Rivals has him even lower, as they rank him as just a three star prospect and just 33rd best at his position. They do not even have him ranked nationally.
  • In the Composite Rankings, which is what we prefer to use here, seeing as it takes all of the rankings at the different services into account, he is a four star and ranked at 245 overall and at 18 at his position.

Regardless of where the services have him ranked, Patterson has more than 20 offers. Those include Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Notre Dame, and UNC, so don’t be fooled by some of these rankings. This kid can play, and has tremendous upside.

Again, this one is now down to Clemson and South Carolina. Expect this one to end just like the last six games between the two have, with UofSC on the losing end.
