That’s one of the greatest games in the history of college football…

Dabo Swinney

As most know, ESPN replayed the National Title game from the 2016 season last night as part of their #ThrowbackThursday event. Head coach Dabo Swinney joined Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreet, and The Bear for a handful of individual segments that aired at the beginning of each quarter to relive that magical night.

Those were obviously pre-recorded however, as what Swinney and many of the players from that title team were doing during the broadcast was having themselves a very entertaining watch party. A big one.

At one time during the video you can hear Christain Wilkins say, “Minkah still triyng to cover Renfrow,” in regards to Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick getting abused by Renfrow in two consecutive CFP National Championship Games. That includes Renfrow’s ten catch night in this game, including the game winning touchdown.

The Clemson and Alabama series has been the best thing about the College Football Playoff since 2015. The teams had squared off in the playoff four consecutive seasons up until last season, with both teams owning two wins against the other and both holding one lopsided victory over the other.

Many expect the Tide to reclaim their rightful place atop the SEC West standings next season and make another playoff run in 2020. It is a safe bet that we see these two teams square off again in the postseason, and sooner rather than later.

If you have not seen it already, it is definitely worth the watch.
