It would have been next to impossible for the Clemson Softball team to have gotten off to a better start in their inaugural season. John Rittman’s team was 19-8, including a blistering 5-1 start to ACC play, when the season unexpectedly ended due to the threat of COVID-19.
Of all the teams whose seasons were cut short, you could argue that the softball team got shafted a little more than most. These girls had waited so long to get started, and then for it to all end, just like that, had to be extremely disappointing.
The fans were flocking to the games, and the atmosphere was indescribable. Hopefully that same excitement that surrounded the program will carry over into year two. They deserve it.
