The Tigers meet the Hurricanes today in the ACC Basketball Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum. The game is scheduled to start at noon and will be televised on ESPN.
Clemson is looking for a win after splitting their last eight games. The Tigers are averaging 66.4 points a game and are shooting 42.7%. They are allowing 64.1 points a game on 41.2% shooting.
Aamir Simms is averaging 13 points and 2.6 assists while Tevin Mack is averaging 12.3 points and 5.2 rebounds.
Clemson is shooting 31.5% from beyond the three point line and 67.6% from the free throw line. The Tigers are allowing 32.7% shooting from deep and are averaging 31.1 rebounds a game. One thing that has hurt the Tigers is they have lost five of their last seven games away from home.
On the other side, the Hurricanes look for a win after splitting their last eight games too. Miami is averaging 71.4 points a game on 43.1% shooting and they are allowing 73.4 points on 44.3% shooting.
Chris Lykes is averaging 15.2 points and 2.4 assists while Dejan Vasiljevic is averaging 13.1 points and 4.2 rebounds.
The Hurricanes are shooting 31.8% from beyond the arc and 75.9% from the free throw line. They are allowing 34% shooting from deep and are bringing down 31 boards a game. Miami has had their own struggles on the road and have lost six of their last seven non-home games.
The Hurricanes have a head coach who seems to be able to get his players ready for tournament time and has shown some success over the years. This years team though just isn’t very good and they’re losing road games by an average of nine points, while shooting just 40.4% from the field.
The Tigers have had issues of their own, especially on the road but they also have an above-average defense that travels well and can keep themselves in games when their shots aren’t falling. Clemson’s defense should be able to grind out an ugly win and advance to the second round.
With that said, they will need others to step up on the offensive side to help Aamir Simms and Tevin Mack out while trying to cut down on the scoring droughts.
