Tigers Ranked In Latest Baseball America Poll

Clemson clinched the series with rival UofSC for the fifth time in six years on Sunday, and it got the Tigers some recognition today. Baseball America ranked the Tigers for the first time this season, as Clemson was ranked 23rd after their 9-2.

The Tigers made their first appearance in any poll last week, coming in at #26 in Collegiate Baseball’s poll. They have since been dropped to 27th, while remaining unranked in the D1 Baseball top 25.

Clemson owes this accomplishment to the great start the pitching staff is off to so far this season. The Tigers pitching staff is among the best in the country and are led by Sam Weatherly, who left Friday’s game after the seventh with a no hitter intact.

The Tigers also showed a little more offense in the series against the Gamecocks which, even though it’s still early in the season, gives Clemson fans more hope as the Tigers get ready for ACC play.
