Today brings an end to the NFL’s 2019 season with the playing of the Super Bowl. This year Clemson fans have three more reasons to watch because there are three former Tigers in the game.
Sammy has endured a lot of injuries over his six seasons in the NFL and has played with 3 different teams in the league. Including the Buffalo Bills (4th overall Pick in 2014) 2014-2016, the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, and his current team the Kansas City Chiefs 2018-present.
Bashaud Breeland is in his sixth year and has also played for three different teams. He was taken with the 102nd pick in the 2014 draft by the Washington Redskins (2014-2017). He then played with Green Bay in 2018 before ending up in Kansas City at the start of this season.
Dorian O’Daniel is in his second season with the Chiefs after they chose him with the 100th pick in the 3rd round of the 2018 draft. He recorded 8 total tackles (5 solo) in 14 games played this season. He has been used primarily on special teams although he did play 12 snaps on defense in the AFC Divisional playoff win over the Houston Texans.
To make it a little more interesting, these Tigers will also be going up against a pair of former South Carolina Gamecock players in wide receiver Deebo Samuel and defensive back Rashad Fenton.
Super Bowl LIV is being played in Miami Gardens, Fla. and will be televised on Fox at 6:30 pm today. These three Tigers hope to help the Chiefs win the big game for the first time since 1970. This is when they last won the AFC, going on to win Super Bowl IV against the Minnesota Vikings.
