Simmons Wins National Award

Isaiah Simmons has won the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker. He is the first Tiger to ever win it.

The ACC Defensive Player of the Year totaled 91 tackles, 14 TFL, 7 sacks, and 2 INTs throughout the season.

From the selection committee,

Simmons is one of the most versatile athletes to play the linebacker position. He’s an exceptional athlete with unique length and makes plays at all three levels, with terrific rush ability, blitz timing, cover skill and tackling range. He’s a modern-day linebacker with special match-up skills. For as good of a football player as he is, he’s a better person and will represent the Butkus Award with class.”
