CFP Picture Gets A Little Clearer Today

Week nine is upon us and with it the CFP picture should start to become a little clearer. There are three Top 25 matchups that could serve as elimination games for a couple of teams.

13 Wisconsin at 3 Ohio State (Noon, FOX)

The Badgers inexplicable loss to Illinois last weekend has taken a little of the shine off of this one. What was supposed to be a battle of unbeatens has turned into just another B1G game on the schedule. The Badgers are 2 TDs underdogs and today is the day we get to see how good that defense really is. they are also looking to stay alive in the playoff. A loss here knocks them out. This Buckeye offense is humming. Justin Fields looks like the perfect QB to run it. This will be their first real test this season. Can they pass it?

9 Auburn at 2 LSU (3:30 CBS)

LSU is another team whose offense has been humming. QB Joe Burrow has consistently lit opposing defenses up this season. Already sporting wins over Texas and Florida, can they add to what is already the nations best resume? If Auburn is to have any shot, they have to turn in a solid defensive performance and freshman QB Bo Nix must limit the mistakes and manage the offense. Having already suffered a loss, the Tigers playoff lives are on the line, and in a game in which they are a 10.5 point underdog.

8 Notre Dame at 19 Michigan (7:30 ABC)

The Wolverines opened as a 4 point home favorite but the line has swung all the way around to where the Irish are now favored by a point. Why is that significant? Michigan is 0-9 as an underdog under Harbaugh. The Irish haven’t won in The Big House since 2005. Currently, this is the last scheduled game on the books between these two storied programs. The Irish are playing for their playoff lives, while Michigan is hoping to finally find a little offense.
