Never Trust A Junkie….. Week 6 Picks

With the Tigers off this weekend, Clemson fans will have to look elsewhere for their college football fix. Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of great looking matchups, but there are two games pitting ranked teams against one another. However, as we all know, a bad college football game is better than no college football game. Regardless, with much of the ACC on a bye, we will scan the schedule for some games that might be of interest to Clemson fans, and let you know how they might play out. And remember, if you’re tempted to call up the bookie based off anything you read here, we strongly recommend you taking another look at the above title.

#14 Iowa at #19 Michigan 12pm FOX

The Wolverines were pegged by many of the talking heads as a preseason CFP team. Four games into the season and they’ve been anything but. After barely surviving in OT against Army, The Fightin’ Harbaughs were taken to the woodshed by Wisconsin 35-14. They are coming off a 52-0 win over Rutgers, but it is hard to glean very much from that win seeing how bad Rutgers is. The Hawkeyes come in unbeaten at 4-0, but the only P5 team they’ve played is Iowa St, and they barely survived it 18-17. The line is now down to Michigan -3.5, and this will be the week the media starts salivating over the Wolverines again….. Michigan wins big.

#7 Auburn at #10 Florida 330pm CBS

Auburn travels to The Swamp to take on the Gators in a matchup of top ten teams. Something The Swamp doesn’t see very often these days. Through five games, Auburn might just have the nations most impressive resume. True freshman Bo Nix is improving every week, and the Tigers are playing well. The Gators looked like one of the most overrated teams in the nation before losing starting QB Felipe Franks to a season ending injury. The offense has looked much more fluid with Kyle Trask taking the naps and their defense is allowing just over 8 points a game. Auburn is favored by 2.5….. Auburn wins and covers

Boston College at Louisville 1230pm ACCN

At 3-2, BC has been unimpressive through 5 games. They actually lost at home to Kansas. They head into Cardinal Stadium as 5.5 point underdogs against a Louisville team that looks to be much improved under first year head coach Scott Satterfield. If the 2-2 Cards can get the win, they’ll move above .500, something no one was expecting at any point this season. This one will be close. Louisville wins, but….. BC covers the number

Virginia Tech at Miami 330pm ESPN

This one features a pair of 2-2 teams, both of which have struggled mightily. The Hokies are coming off their worst home loss since the 70’s and Miami barely beat Central Michigan at home last time out. The Canes are 14 point favorites in this battle for the worst, less than mediocre team in the Coastal. Miami puts Justin Fuente one step closer to the unemployment line….. Miami wins and covers
