I feel like yesterday afternoon, Clemson had exactly the kind of game it desperately needed for their success in the rest of the season. I really mean that because these Tigers clawed and scratched for every yard, every point, even including the flaws, it was a special win, despite the criticism, the disdain and lazy media narrative.
A Top 20 matchup, on the road, an injury decimated secondary, a brand new defensive coordinator having issues but this morning, it just doesn’t matter because these young men won, in a grand, and very exciting style. I believe that game will be looked back on as the moment this team “got its groove back.”
Sure, it was far from perfect but from start to finish, it was perfect enough for me, and it gave me hope. I’m usually distracted by all the outside noise but not this morning. I challenge Clemson Nation to understand, the ACC is much improved. There are few gimmies in college football, even in the ACC.
Clemson will be facing a Top 10 team on Saturday night in the valley, with ESPN’s GameDay in town. When it gets tough and the struggle is real against the Wolfpack, we need only reflect back one week to see this team knows how to win and it showed.
This is one Sunday morning, that in year’s past, I’d have lamented that this team isn’t championship worthy but not this morning. Maybe we aren’t a playoff team but I feel better about our chances after yesterday. Is it a foolish forecast or realistic forecast? I know my answer, how about you. It’s all dependent on your perspective.
Thanks for stopping by and just do yourself a favor, rest up and work out because next Saturday night is going to be something special. Based on my and many other’s concern for DJ Uiagalelei’s abilities, if you need a reminder of what real improvement looks like, here is a nugget for you edification and enjoyment.
