Heading into the season, Clemson looks to have three solid options at running back and Will Shipley is loving every minute of it.
After leading Clemson in rushing yards as a freshman, the former 5-star back has seen all of the hype surrounding the depth the Tigers have at the position in 2022.
“The three-headed monster,” Shipley said. “I’ve seen that on Twitter and a couple of things. I love it.”
While Shipley tends to get most of the hype, Phil Mafah and Kobe Pace both bring their own unique set of skills to the running back room, and could potentially be starters at many other places.
“When you talk about me, Kobe and Phil, it’s a special, special group,” Shipley said. “We just got done talking about it, but we’re holding each other to a standard. We love each other, but we’re also competing out there. And we all know that.”
Shipley says there is a standard being set at the position, and each player is bringing a team-first mentality to the field each and every day.
“Not necessarily competing against each other, but competing for each other,” Shipley said. “And that’s really what it comes down to. We’re going to hold each other to that standard and we’re going to make sure we all bring our best every single day.”
