Where Does Clemson QB Room Rank Nationally?

Quarterback. It’s the most important position on the field.

The Tigers head into the 2022 season with a more than full quarterback room that includes three former 5-star prospects. But where does the room rank when it comes to some of the of the other programs across the country?

247 recently ranked the best QB rooms, placing Clemson among the five best in the country.

3. Georgia
4. Clemson

“The Tigers boast something no other team on this list can: three players who earned five-star rankings as high school players. The issue here is that those players aren’t as proven on the field. D.J. Uiagalelei is the likely starter, and his arm strength helped him emerge as the No. 2 overall player in 2020 and have some early success with the Tigers. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney seems to believe the quarterback is ready to leave last year’s struggles behind, and he certainly has the talent to do that. Cade Klubnik could be waiting if Uiagalelei can’t make it happen; he was the top-ranked quarterback in the 2022 247Sports Composite. Then there’s Hunter Johnson, who was ranked No. 53 by 247Sports (a four-star), but was a five-star in the composite rankings. He started his career at Clemson, didn’t overcome Trevor Lawrence (understandable), transferred to Northwestern, started eight games in three years and was team captain last year; Johnson then transferred back to Clemson as a graduate transfer.“

While the room might rank among the nations best, that doesn’t mean there are no questions heading into fall camp. All eyes will be on Uiagalelei when fall camp begins next month to see is the junior can leave the struggles of last season behind him. If not, there is a pretty talented freshman waiting in the wings, something Clemson did not have in 2021.
