ACC Baseball: By the Numbers

Press release courtesy of the ACC

ACC baseball has reached the final weekend of the regular season, and stakes are high for the seven league series slated Thursday through Saturday. Notre Dame holds a slight lead atop the Atlantic Division, but Louisville, Florida State and NC State remain in mathematical contention. The picture is similar in the Coastal Division, where Miami sits just ahead of Virginia Tech, with Virginia remaining in the hunt as well. Interestingly, the closing weekend schedule includes a matchup of the current division leaders, as Miami welcomes Notre Dame to Coral Gables.

• The division winners will be the top two seeds for the 2022 ACC Baseball Championship, which is set for Tuesday, May 24 through Sunday, May 29 at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina. Eight teams have clinched spots in the 12-team field, with the remaining four tournament berths to be determined this weekend. Tournament seedings will be announced Saturday evening (May 21), and the complete tournament bracket with game times and daily matchups will be unveiled late Sunday morning.

• ACC Baseball Championship tournament packages and single-game tickets may be purchased at or by calling the Knights Ticket Office at 704-274-8282.

• While next week’s Championship looms on the immediate horizon, the upcoming NCAA tournament is also on the radar of most ACC teams. Eleven conference teams have reached the 30-win plateau, and each was among the top 33 of the NCAA RPI on Wednesday:

5 – Virginia Tech

10 – Louisville

11 – Miami

15- Notre Dame

16 – Virginia

20 – Wake Forest

21 – Florida State

22 – North Carolina

23 – Clemson

25 – Georgia Tech

33 – NC State

The 64-team field and regional pairings for the 2022 NCAA Baseball Championship will be announced Monday, May 30.
