Former Clemson QB Taisun Phommachanh entered the transfer portal just after the end of the regular season. Now he has a new home, as Phommachanh announced a commitment to fellow ACC member Georgia Tech on Monday.
Phommachanh committed to Clemson in 2018 as a four-star recruit in the class of 2019. In his first two seasons with the Tigers, he played 86 combined snaps.
After an Achilles injury in the 2021 spring game, it appeared Phommachanh would be lost for the majority of last season, if not all of it, but he proved those assertions incorrect. After dedicating himself to a quick rehabilitation regime, he was amazingly cleared ahead of the season opener against Georgia Tech.
After seeing little playing time in 2021 and with former five star recruit Cade Klubnick’s impending arrival, he sought change. I’m sure Yellow Jackets head coach Geoff Collins can and will find a way to fit this young man’s talents into his offense.
