“Clemson jumped in at No. 19 on the heels of its first sweep of rival South Carolina since 1999, keeping the Tigers unbeaten on the season.”- D1 Baseball
The Tigers are ranked No. 21 by Baseball America, and sitting at 11-0, are just one of five teams that have yet to suffer a loss in the 2022 season.
“Clemson swept rival South Carolina over the weekend. It’s the first time it has done so since 1996. The Tigers won with a late comeback Friday. Down 2-1 heading to the eighth, they scored one in that frame on a Jonathan French solo homer and one in the ninth on a Bryar Hawkins RBI single. Righthander Mack Anglin turned in a solid start as well, giving up two hits and two runs with four walks and nine strikeouts in six innings. The Saturday win was more comfortable, with Clemson scoring at least one run in every inning from the fourth through the eighth. Catcher Cooper Ingle, Hawkins and third baseman Max Wagner all had two-hit games. On the mound, righthander Nick Hoffman gave up just one unearned run in five innings. In the finale, a three-run fourth inning for the Tigers, highlighted by a two-run single for center fielder Dylan Brewer, made the difference. Clemson has another tough series coming up this weekend, as Northeastern, which just swept NC State, comes to Doug Kingsmore Stadium.“- Baseball America
Clemson has two midweek games this week. One at home against East Tennessee St on Tuesday and against Michigan State on Wednesday at Fluor Field in Greenville, before hosting Northeastern at home next weekend for a three game series.
