After making his first career touchdown catch, in what his first-ever appearance in the Pro Bowl, some are really starting to realize exactly how good Hunter Renfrow was for the Raiders this season.
Former NFL QB Brian Griese, who won a Super Bowl title with the Broncos, called Renfrow one of the most undervalued players in the NFL during the Pro Bowl telecast over the weekend.
“You want to talk about undervalued players, Hunter Renfrow is another one,” said Griese.
The former Clemson wideout caught 103 balls, for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns in his third NFL season. Even more impressive was the fact that Renfrow caught almost every ball thrown his way, with just over one-third of those catches coming on third down.
“Hunter Renfrow caught 80.5 percent of his targets this year,” Griese said. “He had 33 catches on third down, like the money down, the big-time down. He was as clutch as it gets for the Raiders.”
Renfrow was the first Raider to go over 1,000 receiving yards in a season since 2016 and became just the third player in franchise history to record 100-plus receptions in a single season.
