Soon after Gary Patterson was let go by TCU, the rumors began to swirl.
Ove of those rumors involved Tony Elliott being one of the candidates that TCU was interested in talking with. According to a report from SB Nation’s Jamie Plunkett, who covers the Horned Frogs, Elliott actually interviewed for the job last week, along with seven other candidates, including Billy Napier.
“TCU conducted seven interviews last week, including Tony Elliott and Billy Napier, and are continuing to have more conversations this week,” Plunkett wrote in the report.
Elliott was asked on Monday about his name being linked to the job and more or less just brushed it off.
“I’m focused on the season,” Elliott said. “If I start talking about that, then I gotta talk about every one that I’m mentioned for. I guess there was an article that was written on one of the top guys, so my name comes up for every job. If there’s ever something really serious and it gets to that point, then I’ll be able to talk about it. But right now that’s just people speculating.”
Other candidates outside of Elliott and Napier are Sonny Dykes (SMU HC), Matt Campbell (Iowa St HC), Jay Norvell (Nevada HC), Jamey Chaldwell (Coastal Carolina HC), Chris Peterson (Former Washington HC), Kellen Moore (Dallas Cowboys OC), and Deion Sanders (Jackson St HC).
