Clemson isn’t the only ACC team failing to live up to lofty preseason expectations.
The North Carolina Tarheels are having similar issues. After being ranked No. 10 in the preseason and proclaimed by many in the media as the team that had the potential to unseat the Tigers in the ACC, Mack Brown’s team has fallen flat on its face.
North Carolina is off to a 3-3 start, with their latest loss coming to Florida State, one of the worst teams in the ACC. However, don’t point the finger at Brown. Instead the head coach prefers you place your blame with the media.
“My expectation is to win every game,” Brown said after the FSU loss. “So three times we’ve met it and three times we haven’t. The national media expectation, the expectations for us to be a top-ten team were wrong. So I guess we should all be critical of the media for picking us too high, because we’re not that good. So you guys all screwed it up.”
Maybe Brown needs to take a closer look at his own defense. Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis carved the Heels up, through the air and on the ground, scoring five total touchdowns, ensuring Brown stayed winless against FSU.
