Don’t tell Dabo Swinney his teams season is over.
Despite what many of the fans think, this Clemson team can still reach most of their goals. The only thing they can’t do is go undefeated.
However, Swinney knows the fan base is emotional after the 10-3 loss to Georgia, but the Tigers’ head coach said he would not have it any other way.
“When we don’t (win), people are ticked,” Swinney said on his call-in show Monday night. “There’s a lot of criticism. There’s a lot of disappointment and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It comes with the territory. I’m glad we’re a relevant program that people like to talk about when we don’t meet the expectations. But I can promise you this, ain’t nobody have expectations like we have in this building. That’s for dang sure.”
Swinney has made the program so relevant that when the Tigers lose, it’s a national story, and for days at the time. Something the head coach said comes along with being one of the nation’s premier programs.
“I love the fact that it’s a national story,” Swinney said. “When we lose to a top-3 team or we lose to an unranked team, it’s a national story. I love that. I don’t see anything wrong. I think that’s a compliment to all the teams that we’ve had. We’re in a place where there’s high expectations. Fans expect us to win. National people expect us to win.”
