There is a lot being expected of the Clemson defensive line this season.
Throughout the duration of spring, we heard the praise. It has continued through fall camp. From players and coaches alike.
With a front consisting of guys like Bryan Bresee, Tyler Davis, Myles Murphy, KJ henry and Xavier Thomas, there’s bound to be a lot of hype, though. Each one of those guys were five-star recruits, except for Tyler Davis, and he certainly performed like one.
Even XT himself has been thoroughly impressed by what he’s seen from the group, Especially when it comes to the depth.
“Pretty good day for defense,” Thomas said after the final scrimmage of fall camp. “Been really good throughout the whole entire camp. Again, we’re really deep on the defensive line, just rotating guys, guys getting in and making plays and things like that. Some of the best I’ve ever seen.”
That last sentence is very telling seeing as Thomas was a member of the 2018 team that featured the Power Rangers, arguably the greatest defensive line in Clemson history.
Speaking of Thomas, after facing numerous obstacles over the past two seasons, he’s feeling as good as he’s ever felt and is now ready to put the past in his rear view mirror.
“I feel great and very proud of myself in regards to all of the things I was going through the past couple of years,” Thomas said. “Just fighting through adversity, and responding the right way. Just doing what I know I’ve been capable of forever.”
XT is ready to show once and for all, exactly how much of a force he can be.
“I just wanted to come in this year and do what I’m capable of,” Thomas said. “I know I can be one of the best players in the country and I can’t wait to show the world what I can do. It’s all about staying motivated.”
