Former Clemson Star Mike Williams Anxious to Watch ‘One Of Best Receivers in College Football’

It’s been more than a full year since Justyn Ross last played a down of college football.

Clemson’s star wide receiver missed all of last season recovering from a surgical procedure to repair a congenital condition in his spine. While it has yet to be officially announced, Ross is expected to be back on the field in 2021.

While the Clemson offense was still plenty explosive with Trevor Lawrence throwing passes to Amari Rodgers and Cornell Powell, Ross’ presence was still missed. You can not lose that kind of talent and it not have at least some kind of negative impact.

The Clemson fan base isn’t the only ones ready to see Ross back on the field. Former Clemson and current Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is also ready to see the extremely talented Ross back in action.

“He’s a dog,” Williams told WLTX Sports . “He’s probably one of the best receivers in college football. But yeah, he’s like any other receiver that came through (Clemson). He’s going to be a first-rounder, so I’m looking forward to seeing him play.”

DJ Uiagalelei is entering his first season as the Tigers full-time starting quarterback and having a veteran like Ross on the field will give the young quarterback a reliable target in the passing game.

Williams expects Ross to come back with a vengeance and continue his journey towards the NFL all while living up to the Clemson standard of #WRU.

“We always live up to that ‘Wide Receiver U’ thing,” Williams added. “We go through college, make it to the league, and we’re trying to keep that standard the same and that’s being the best.”
