Update On 2022 Defensive Tackle Travis Shaw

Travis Shaw, the 5-star defensive tackle out of North Carolina, has been one of Clemson’s top priorities in the 2022 recruiting class.

However, coming out of June, many had North Carolina and Georgia as the two favorites to land the player who is ranked No. 9 overall.

Mack Brown and the Tarheels have been losing top tier talent out of that state to other teams and are determined to stop that trend with Shaw. They have played this recruitment about as well as they could have.

Clemson really needs to get Shaw back on campus for the All In Cookout at the end of the month. Problem is, North Carolina is also holding a recruiting event in Chapel Hill the same weekend.

No word yet on which one Shaw might attend, or if he plans to attend one at all, but if the Tigers can not get him in town that weekend, that would be a bad sign of where things stand.

No decision date has been announced as of yet. At one time it was thought Shaw would not announce until later in the cycle but there has been some chatter that a decision could come before the summer is over.

Shaw is an elite-level talent and would be one of the top gets in the class for Clemson. The Tigers came into the cycle looking to add two defensive tackles and have had a hard time gaining traction with one outside of Shaw. Caden Curry and Gabe Dindy are other players the team has been recruiting.
