Could Clemson Add Third Offensive Linemen to 2022 Recruiting Class

How many offensive linemen will the Tigers take in the 2022 recruiting class?

Clemson already has two blue-chip offensive linemen in Blake Miller and Colin Sadler committed in the 2022 recruiting class. In-state prospect Mason Johnstone is also on board as a preferred walk-on.

It’s possible the coaching staff decides to just sign the two, but adding a third is still a possibility.

Falentha Carswell, a 3-star tackle out of Georgia, is a guy on the Tigers radar. The 6-foot-7, 275 prospect was on hand for one of Dabo Swinney’s high school camps and is a guy the staff stays in contact with.

Carswell has offers from Miami, NC State, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and Oregon and is thought to be favoring the Canes, but an offer from Clemson would give him something to at least consider.

Another player on the radar is in-state tackle Chase Sweigart. The 3-star prospect out of Chapin also worked out for the coaching staff back in early June. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound player has just one Power-5 offer at the moment, and it’s from Virginia Tech. USF, Charlotte, and Liberty have also offered.

At the end of the day, the coaches could be content to just take two offensive linemen this cycle, especially if the plan is for incoming freshman Dietrick Pennington to play inside, something that seems likely.
