Clemson Recruiting: 4-Star In-State Receiver to Keep an Eye On

Clemson is looking to add up to three receivers in the 2022 recruiting class, with one of those being a slot guy.

In-state wideout Adam Randall, who stands 6-foot-3 and is already up over 200 pounds, committed to the Tigers late last year, giving Clemson one of the two outside guys they wanted in this class.

Andre Green, a 6-foot-3, 4-star wideout from Virginia, recently picked up an offer and is the Tigers top target for the second outside spot.

4-star burner Brenen Thompson is who the coaching staff has zeroed in on as the slot guy. The 5-foot-10 prospect is from Texas and landing him will not be easy. Thompson has been trending towards Texas as of late and Oklahoma State could be serious contenders as well.

If the Tigers can’t land Thompson, look for the coaches to possibly turn their attention towards 4-star in-state receiver Antonio Williams. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect out of Dutch Fork hasn’t picked up an offer yet, but that doesn’t mean one isn’t forthcoming. The coaching staff stays in regular contact and it’s an offer Williams clearly wants.

Williams recently visited Clemson and currently holds offers from more than 25 schools. South Carolina, Ole Miss, Georgia, Florida State and Auburn are all schools that have offered.

Williams listed his Top-15 at the end of May. and while Clemson was not included, they certainly are contenders. Again, they just haven’t offered yet.

Although, the further Thompson trends away from Clemson, the better the chances of that offer coming. Williams isn’t expected to announce a decision anytime in the near future, meaning the Tigers coaching staff has the luxury of playing the waiting game here.

When and if that offer does come, expect the Tigers to immediately jump to the top of the favorites list.
