Deshaun Watson to the Denver Broncos?
According to Watson’s former Texans teammate Kareem Jackson, who is now with Denver, the former Clemson quarterback would like to be a Bronco.
In an interview with former NFL star Aqib Talib, Jackson said Watson told him that flat out.
“All he’s been telling me is like ‘look, just tell them (Denver) is where I want to be,” Jackson said of his conversations with Watson. “That’s where I want to be. I want to be in Denver.”
Jackson spent the first nine years of his career in Houston before joining the Broncos prior to 2019. The veteran defensive back resigned with Denver for one-year back in March and prior to signing Jackson said he spoke with Watson.
“During the time while I was going through my little free agency thing, and I ended up signing back here; before I singed, he called me and was like ‘are you going to sign?’ I told him I wasn’t sure yet,” Jackson said. “He was like, ‘well, let me know whatever you’re going to do.’ Then I signed and he was like ‘listen, tell them that I want to be in Denver.'”
Watson’s career is currently in a holding pattern while he waits to see how the 22 civil lawsuits filed against him play out. His career as a Texan is over, though, and the only real question remaining to be answered is when and where the quarterback resumes his career.
Currently 24-year-old Drew Lock and off-season acquisition, 28-year-old Teddy Bridgewater are battling it out to see who becomes the Broncos starting quarterback in 2021.
#Texans QB Deshaun Watson has been getting recruited by former teammates and countless players across the NFL, and he remains open to several options, including the #Broncos. But I don’t believe Denver is “where he wants to be.” Just one possible spot. https://t.co/rTXR4CCVJM
