Top TE Target Starting to Trend Away From Clemson, Towards FSU?

2022 Jaleel Skinner’s recruitment has been one of those that has been hard to get a good read on.

The nation’s third-best TE prospect and Top-100 talent from nearby Greer has been considered to be a Clemson lean for months but as the dead period has ended and things have opened back up, maybe that isn’t the case after all. Or maybe things just change that quickly sometimes.

Skinner just spent multiple days in Tallahassee and the Seminoles have now evolved into major players when it comes to landing Skinner. Florida, Alabama, Arizona State, and Miami are all still scheduled to get official visits from Skinner this month. At the moment there are no plans for an official to Clemson.

That, in and of itself, isn’t groundbreaking news or any big revelation. Living so close to Clemson, Skinner is plenty familiar with the program and everything the Tigers have to offer.

However, six crystal ball predictions have been put in over the past week, and all are for Florida State. One of those coming from Steve Wiltfong, who very rarely misses on these things. When he puts one in you can pretty much take it to the bank.

Clemson is looking to add an elite-level tight end in this class but only have offers out to two players that have yet to commit, Skinner and Oscar Delp, who appears to be a Georgia lean.

With the Bulldogs just adding Arik Gilbert through the transfer portal, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact that has on Gilbert’s recruitment. It will also be interesting to see where the Tigers turn if they miss on both Delp and Skinner.
