2022 defensive tackle Mykel Williams has officially set an announcement date. The four-star prospect will make that announcement on March 15.
The 6-foot-5, 260 pound interior linemen out of Columbus, Georgia is ranked as the fourth-best defensive tackle in the country, the fifth-best player in the state of Georgia, and ranks No. 41 overall in the 247 Composite Rankings.
Williams has offers from all the major-players and released an official top-ten back on New Year’s Day that included Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, and USC.
There are currently no crystal ball predictions for Williams but now that he has set a commitment date, that is very likely to change.
The All-American Bowl selection originally had plans to name a top five in March, a Top-3 on his birthday on June 29, and then commit on Aug. 23, his sister’s birthday.
He’s coming off a junior season that saw him register 69 tackles, 17 sacks, and 19 TFL. He was also responsible for 27 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 11 games.
As a sophomore Williams had 57 tackles, 18 TFL, 10 sacks, 14 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one safety in nine games.
