We already knew that the Clemson and Notre Dame matchup would the the biggest ACC Championship Game in history. No. 2 facing off with No. 3 was the kind of showdown the ACC had envisioned back when they originally went to the format back in 2005. It just took a little longer than anyone could have imagined.
Well the television numbers are in, and as expected, the game was the most watched in ACC Championship history.
A lot of fans did not like the fact that the ACC let Notre Dame jump on board for just one season, but like it or not, it is a move that ended up paying off in a big way for the conference. And the best part about it is the fact that the Fighting Irish made it all the way to the conference championship, only to be sent back to South Bend after having suffered another embarrassing loss on the big stage.
