2021 TE Decommits From App St, Will Join Clemson As Preferred Walk On

Banks Pope had been committed to App State since the summer. After getting a call from Brandon Streeter on Monday, Pope backed off that pledge and will join Clemson’s 2021 recruiting class as a preferred walk-on.

The 6-foot-4, 240 pound tight end out AC Flora High School in Columbia chose the Moutaineers, but also had offers from Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Furman, Georgia State, Georgia Southern and Liberty.

Pope played defensive end his freshman season and right guard his sophomore season, before moving to tight end for the past two seasons. As a senior he hauled in 11 catches for 159 yards and 1 touchdown in helping lead AC Flora to their first ever state title.
